Here are some things to remember:

  • The recommended format for saving is PDF. See the instructions at the conclusion of the class if you need to send it to JPEG.
  • PowerPoint only creates RGB images. Inquire about your printer to see if it accepts RGB files or will convert them to CMYK.
  • PowerPoint is an excellent tool, however, it is primarily used to display visuals on a monitor rather than to print documents. This isn't to say you can't use them; it just means you're aware of their limitations.

Step 1: Open PowerPoint and Set The Document.

The typical size of a business card is 3.5 x 2 inches.

If you want other graphics or colors to come out of the edges, make your document 3.75 x 2.25 inches. You should always design your business cards in the correct size so that the quality does not suffer as a result of the shift.

  • Go to the DESIGN tab and on the far right, click on Slide size.
  • Fill up the WIDTH and HEIGHT boxes with the dimensions of your business card.

A pop-up window may appear, asking if you wish to increase your slide size or ensure fit. This only works if you have a design on your artboard already, so pick one and click OK.

Step 2: Create A shape

  • Go to the INSERT tab and select Shapes from the drop-down menu. Click inside your document to select a rectangle. A box will appear on the screen.
  • After you've selected the box, glance to the right to see the HEIGHT and WIDTH. Set the length of this box to anything you wish. By selecting the box and utilizing the size settings, you can always alter the height over time.
  • Place your box by selecting Align Center and Align Top from the ALIGN option that was recently left for WIDTH and HEIGHT.

Step 3: Margins

We'll have to make our own because PowerPoint has no limitations or guiding options. It is critical that we maintain at least all important details. Keep a distance of 25 inches from the cut line. This prevents the cards from cracking when they are cut by the printer.

I'll make a red box to represent the cut line and a light green box to serve as a safe haven to build a safety guide so we know where our boundaries are.

Step 4: Insert Images and Text

  • Search for the image you wish to use on your desktop in INSERT - Images. Drag the image inside the green security line to anywhere you want it.
  • To insert the text box into the document, click on the Text Box and then on the outside of the design area. Your text should be typed.
  • When you choose text, a font style box appears, allowing you to alter your text. Drag the text box to the desired location.

It is recommended that you choose easy-to-read typefaces and keep the font size between 7pt and 12pt when formatting your content.

What information should be included on the business card?

  • Your complete name and job title
  • Name of the Organization
  • Address
  • Phone numbers, email addresses, and a website URL
  • You are free to add whatever more you require, such as slogans.

Step 5: Remove the Margin Boxes Save Document

We may clear our margin boxes now that you've finished putting all of your firm information together.

Simply select the red box and press the delete key on your keyboard. Then repeat the process with the green.

Save as or as Adobe PDF from the FILE menu. If you don't see it there, look for it under Export. Save the PDF to your computer.

To save a PowerPoint slide as a high-quality JPEG, follow these steps:

  • Resize Slide to 3000px x 1800px in the DESIGN tab, then Zoom.
  • Your design was expected to stay in place, but double-check that nothing has been deleted from the artboard.
  • Save as JPEG from the file menu.
  • Go to Tools – Save Options – Advanced tab – Image Quality to find it. Make sure the box for no picture downsampling is ticked, and the export option is set to 220ppi. This is how I was able to achieve the finest result.
